　　(Back in the bar, Ben and Jim return to their conversation about Jim’s former life in China, when a friend of Ben’s walks into the bar and joins them for a drink. )
　　Ben:So, Jim. After you kicked your bad habit, what did you do?
　　Jim:I had to look for a job, of course!
　　Ben:Hey, there’s my friend Alex! Alex!
　　Alex:Ben, long time no see! How’s it going?
　　Ben:Not good. The engagement’s off!
　　Alex:No way! That’s too bad!
　　Ben:Yeah, well, things happen. By the way, this is Jim.
　　Alex:Alex.
　　Ben:How are things with you?
　　Alex:I’m looking for a new job.
　　Jim:What’s wrong with your job?
　　Alex:My job’s going nowhere; it’s time to move on.
　　Ben:What’s up? Having boss troubles?
　　Alex:No, it’s not that. This job’s a no-brainer; it’s time to move on.
　　Jim:I’ve been on the job hunt for two months now.
　　Alex:Yeah, I can’t find anything that I like either!
　　Ben:But haven’t you already got a job?
　　Jim:Sure I do, but the money’s no good.
　　Alex:Yeah, but I’m having money troubles. It’s not cheap being a student.
　　Ben:I know. I hate living paycheck to paycheck.
　　Jim:I heard that in America, many students often have two jobs at the same time!
　　Ben:That’s right. University students often look for a second part-time job to increase their income.
　　Alex:Yeah, and many men change careers when they are in their forties. It’s called a ‘mid-life’ crisis!
　　Jim:Boy, you Westerners sure a strange lot!
　　
　　（在酒吧里，Ben 和Jim的话题又回到Jim以前在中国的生活，这时Ben的一个朋友走进酒吧，加入了他们的谈话。）
　　Ben:Jim.你改掉了你的坏习惯之后又怎么样了呢？
　　Jim:我当然就得找份工作了。
　　Ben:嘿，这是我的朋友Alex! Alex!
　　Alex:Ben, 好久没见啦，怎么样啊！
　　Ben:不太好，我的订婚取消了。
　　Alex:不能吧，那太糟了！
　　Ben:是啊，意外总是发生的。对了，这是Jim。
　　Alex:Alex.
　　Ben:你的近况如何？
　　Alex:我正在找一份新工作。
　　Jim:你的工作出什么问题了?
　　Alex:我的工作没什么发展，是换工作的时候了。
　　Ben:怎么呢？和老板有矛盾？
　　Alex:不，不是的。做这个工作是不怎么用脑的, 而我需要更具挑战性的工作!
　　Jim:我现在找工作已经两个月了。
　　Alex:是呀，我也找不到喜欢的工作.
　　Ben:但你不是已经有工作了吗?
　　Jim:是，但是我觉得薪水不高。
　　Alex:是呀,但是我正在闹财政危机，当学生也不是那么便宜的。
　　Ben:我知道。我讨厌账单一张接一张的。
　　Jim:我听说在美国很多学生都同时有两份工作。
　　Ben:是啊，为了增加收入大学生经常找兼职来做。
　　Alex:是的，许多人在他们四十岁的时候都会换工作。这被称为“中年危机”!
　　Jim:天啊，你们西方人真是奇怪啊！
