We have chosen the exotic city of Tromso as our main Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) destination, as the city is ideally located in the middle of the Northern Lights zone. The Northern Lights; nature's own light show, are solar winds that meet the atmosphere in a zone around the magnetic North Pole, forming arches, waves and curls of light moving across the sky, with sudden rays of light shooting down from space.
Ice fishing

Pick up at your hotel and transport to the Ramfjord (30 mins drive from Tromso), with excellent fishing conditions. At arrival you are given warm clothes before you enter the ice on snowmobiles.

Snow Castle

The Snow Castle, built every winter since 1996, is an unforgettable experience for young and old. The castle and the Snow Restaurant are decorated with snow and ice sculptures enhanced by light and sound effects. You can spend one of the most extraordinary nights of your life at the Snow Hotel where the temperature in the hotel rooms is a crisp -5°C, but you'll nevertheless sleep warm in a sleeping bag. The Snow Castle also has a chapel in which many a couple has tied the knot over the years.
The Sampo Icebreaker
破冰之旅
The Sampo Icebreaker has been carrying tourists on Arctic adventures since 1988. The vessel sails from the middle of December to the end of April and trips last four hours. The icebreaker is able to crush ice up to eight meters thick. The crew will let you in on all the ship’s secrets on a guided tour. Don't give the daredevil in you the cold shoulder - put on a flotation suit and dip in the ice-cold water! It may look scary at first, but it's completely safe.

The ice during winter is hard enough to drive a car on. In some places they have built roads across the ice on lakes that allow people to drive from one side to another. A large fleet of ice-breakers keep the sea lanes open for all types of shipping.
