"Sex and the City", the famous comedy drama series, adapted from the book by New York columnist Candace Bushnell, centers around four single women who carve to the core of the Big Apple. Executive producer and creator Darren Star filmed with locations stretching the Big Apple strata from the chic to the seedy, from halfway habitable hovels to upscale restaurants and glamorous nightclubs. It has been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards for the 2001 ceremony. Since from 1998, "Sex and the City" has won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series - the first time a cable TV show has ever taken top honors for best series in any category. The series premiered June 6, 1998, on HBO and concluded its run after six seasons on February 22, 2004.
Once upon a time, there was a sitcom about four female friends -- one smart, one naive, one cynical, and one forthright-- who spent a lot of time chatting about sex. They all have good career in their world, they are all smart and beautiful, and though they are over thirty they are still charming. The four single women live in the sexiest city of the world - New York - and try to survive the often suffocating social scene of Manhattan. Based on the bestselling book by Candace Bushnell, "Sex and the City" revolves around the lives of four young professional women in search of the perfect relationship! When these four Manhattanites get together, they cause a commotion in whatever they do...
Carrie Bradshaw writes a column regarding sex and relationships for a local paper ("Carrie Bradshaw knows good sex") and has a long on-and-off relationship with a mysterious man they call "Mr. Big", while her friends, Samantha Jones, a big time publicist who is more interested on being "on the spot" than keeping a long lasting relationship; Miranda Hobbs, a lawyer who refuses to accept the possibility of being single and fights society against the social pre-concepts to keep a relationship with whoever she finds it's perfect, regardless if society says otherwise; and Charlotte McDougal, an art gallery curator who is a bit prudish when it comes to sex, but hasn't yet lost her faith in finding true love.
"Sex and the City" offers a glimpse of the openings, launch parties, and celebrity affairs that keep society amused. Throughout, a cast of characters-the troubled writer, the successful businessman, the famous underwear model, and others-searches for true love...or at least someone to go home with at the end of the night. It's a chronicle of the true-life adventures of the "in" crowd that is often hilarious and sometimes terrifying, but always mesmerizing.
