　　The delicate eco-system of Everglades National Park encompasses both subtropical and temperate climates and therefore supports a huge diversity of plant and animal life. The Park has been designated a World Heritage Site and an International Biosphere Reserve. The Everglades is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles exist side by side.
　　
　　The largest subtropical wilderness on continental USA, the Everglades is a wonderland of wetlands and swamps and home to crocs, gators, flamingoes and snakes. The area started off as a 100-mile ‘river of grass’ stretching from Lake Okeechobee to Florida Bay. In the 1920s the government built an earthen dam and a system of canals through the swamp in order to control the water-flow. At the same time it was designated a national park in order to protect its bio-diversity.
　　
　　The park offers excellent hiking, biking, boating and fishing, as well as the chance to simply observe the wildlife. Although spotting the famous Florida alligators are certainly a highlight of any visit, the Everglades is home to a surprising variety of birdlife. Its five visitor centers offer lectures and exhibitions, as well as land and water tours. The main entrance to the park is a 45-minute drive from downtown Miami. Accommodation within the park ranges from camping to basic motels. For something a bit special, you can hire a houseboat.

　　Located in the northern part of Orange County, Huntington Beach epitomizes the California surfing lifestyle. There are lots of other water-related activities and fantastic entertainment once the sun goes down. The beaches are some of the widest in California with great surf breaks, which have earned Huntington Beach the well-deserved nickname of "Surf City."

　　This small quiet town is a highlight of the area, with a pretty downtown area and lovely beaches. It is much less commercial than other parts of the coast.

　　Nestled between the eucalyptus covered hillsides, Laguna Beach is a favorite among the Hollywood crowd. This quaint coastal town is filled with unique shops and art galleries, with a strong artistic tradition that dates back to the 19th Century. Its no wonder - it’s easy to feel inspired as you walk along one of the towns stunning beaches.

　　Fed up of finding sand in places it shouldn't be? Then head to Disneyland in Anaheim for the ultimate theme-park experience. Around since 1955, the resort is still a firm favorite and boasts a variety of exciting rides. Nearby Knotts Berry Farm also boasts high tech amusements with a Wild West theme.
