Rafting in New Brunswick
去新伯伦瑞克漂流
A rafting expedition from the shores of New Brunswick is the ideal way to experience the mammoth tides of the world-famous Bay of Fundy. Here, the tides rise and fall over 50 feet each day as 14 billion tonnes of water flow in and out of the Bay's basin. The force of the water actually reverses the flow of the rivers that feed into the Bay, transforming them into churning, boiling cauldrons of white water unlike anything you've ever seen. Many private tour operators offer rafting trips up the rivers in the midst of this phenomenon, which is known as a tidal bore. For an unforgettable white-knuckle ride, try a raft trip up the St. Croix or St. John River during the tidal bore and feel what it's like when the undeniable power of the Earth's tides turn on itself!
Fishing in the Northwest Territories
去西北地区钓鱼
Canada's Northwest Territories are a vast, unspoiled wilderness that will thrill the avid angler. Bait your hook for arctic char in the frigid coastal rivers. Check into a full-amenities lodge on the shores of the mighty Mackenzie River, Mills Lake or Deep Bay, where the great northern pike, pickerel, grayling and whitefish will put your fishing skills to the test. And if you're really ambitious, try to set a new standard at Great Bear Lake, where the world record lake trout was caught.
Canada's wildlife
加拿大的野生动物
Canada has wide variety of animals that can be found in the mountains, plains, in rivers and lakes and even in people's back-yards.
Some of the biggest and widespread are bears. Lynx and cougars are the largest cats in Canada. Wolves can be heard but not as easily seen as their cousin the coyote. Bison are now exclusively farmed but goats and sheep can still be seen in the wild. Moose, deer and caribou are also widespread as are the otter and beaver. Reptiles, amphibians and a large selection of snakes also call Canada home. Squirrels, chipmunks, racoons and skunks are often found in and around cities.
Grizzly Bear
灰熊
Canada is home to large and sometimes dangerous bears. Growing to almost 3m grizzly bears can be found in the west of Canada in mountainous areas such as the Rockies.
Moose
驼鹿
One of Canada's largest animals is the moose. Found in forests and around swamps the moose are a huge problem to motorists in some parts especially Newfoundland. Roadside warnings are to be paid attention to and can often provide clues to those wishing to view these unusual animals.
Elk
红鹿
Elk, known as wapiti are found exclusively in the Rocky Mountains. Elk are easy to view often allowing tourists to approach them but be aware more injuries have been reported to have been caused by Elk than any other animal in Canada.
Raccoon
浣熊
With its familiar mischievous looking facial mask, the Raccoon has moved from the forests into the cities and can regularly be seen looking for scraps in people's garbage. The name Raccoon comes from the Algonquin Indian word "arakun" meaning "he scratches with his hand".
